Our roots run deep in the rocky shores of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and New England. We love connecting readers with good stories and helping writers navigate the new publishing economy. Fill your mug, help yourself to some virtual pie, and pull up a chair. It’s nice to meet you. – Sandra
Hello to my colleagues from NINC! You may have come here via my twitter (@sandramcdonald) or because I was the one in the marketing panel whose bladder was about to explode. (Long panel. Great, but long.)
We are all fabulous writers who love sharing stories with readers and tips with each other. Here are just some of the resources I gathered during the week:
From the craft panel, Write Your Novel from the Middle by James Scott Bell. I devoured this book one night two and really like it.
From someone at the bar, The Story Grid: What Good Editors Know by Shawn Coyne. Kicked me in the pants from chapter 1. I’m devouring it.
Mark Dawson wasn’t a fan of my web page, but I’m a fan of his podcasts and resources: check out the Self Publishing Formula
I very much enjoyed talked to freelance editor and Harlequin superhero Marsha Zinberg, who can help you shape stories and manuscripts.
For those of us who couldn’t clone ourselves to be in two different places at once and missed Jennifer Lynn Barnes and her talk, here’s her TedX talk.
More to come, but it’s a Saturday morning and I have chapters to write —

Books About Writing
Thanks in advance for spending your Saturday morning with me. Now is a great time to be an independent author and we have a future of books ahead of us —
Hi there, Oasis 28 guests! In honor of our First Page workshop, I’m donating free copies of my space opera adventure Boomerang World. In it, an American astronaut stranded on an interstellar island tries to prevent a galactic war and save a princess who definitely doesn’t need saving. The coupon expires at the end of the month. Use the code YG25M and enjoy!
